I’ve always felt that you can best understand the truth about something—a person or a place—when you soften your focus a bit. The hard lines come with too many preconceived ideas and emotions. I think that’s why I’m attracted to impressionist paintings and sculptures that tend toward the abstract.

This isn’t to say that realist works aren’t enlightening in their own way. But for me, the engaging essence of a thing is found somewhere in its blurry beauty.

I’m a self-taught artist who has spent decades studying the works of legendary impressionist painters and sculptors.
