Corey Jordan

Born in 1995 in California, Corey Jordan works primarily in pastel, building images through layered chalk and oil pigment that embrace looseness, texture, and immediacy. His figures settle into intimate, everyday moments—caught between tenderness and unease—reflecting his perspective as an American living and studying in England, observing his home country from a distance with both affection and concern.

Drawing inspiration from Degas' softness and color, Lautrec's sensibility, and contemporary painters like Noah Davis, Henry Taylor, and Danny Fox, Jordan's work plays with distortion, memory, and emotional atmosphere. The tactile quality of pastel allows him to move between clarity and blur, presence and disappearance, mirroring how he processes identity, displacement, and belonging.

In 2025, Jordan expanded his practice through a ceramics collaboration, creating vessels and forms shaped by the influence of Picasso and ancient Greek and Roman pottery, extending his interest in storytelling and lineage into a sculptural vocabulary.
