Michael Rafelson's passion for photography has been a life-long affair. His education at Silvermine College of Art studying with John Cohen, and graduation with a BAAPA from the Media Studies program at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, where he studied with: Don Dickinson, Dave Heath, Rob Gooblar, Murray Pomerance, and many other inspiring teachers; exposed him to seminal artists such as: Robert Frank, Diane Arbus, Lee Friedlander, Eugene Atget, Edward Weston, Paul Strand, and many others. This opened the doors to many questions and visual explorations which continue today in the social landscape tradition.
The world is full of beauty and horror, and the people who have created both. This is what has led Michael to illustrate their stories in a fine aesthetic.
