Agnes Chevalier is a French textile artist established in England since1988.
Since then, she has explored a very wide field in Textile Art.
At present she create beautiful and original machine embroidery pictures with a contemporary edge.
Agnes Chevalier‘s portfolio of Fine Art Embroidery is inspired by the English countryside, with a special focus on ancient forest and extraordinary trees. She takes her inspiration from nature as well as from other artists' works, in particular impressionist and Pre-Raphaelite paintings. To create her embroidery pictures, she uses a combination of techniques. After enlarging and redesigning an image from her own photo, she will draw it onto fabric which can be cotton or silk then using her trusty old sewing machine she will draw with the needle and just as one would paint she will stitch layers of a lots of rich vibrantly coloured threads to create an incredible 3D effect.
Agnes graduated in Fine Art from Ecole des Beaux Arts in Rouen, France, specialising in textile sculpture.
She went on to study History of art at La Sorbonne in Paris,
She also studied textile in London at Goldsmith College.
She has exhibited her textile sculptures in France, Belgium, Canada and England, including The Concourse Gallery, Barbican Centre, London.
She has shown her art work in Brighton Artist Open House since 2010, every year .
.From 2014 to 2017, Agnes has open her own house, exhibiting her work as well as a group of very well selected international artists during May Art Festival and Christmas, at Chevalier House and as part of the Fiveways Artists Group.
