As a psychoanalyst I am in the world of words. As an artist I engage the image, and ask, what is the language of the body? I came to speak this second language when my mother died and I needed to reclaim her. My work is a meditation on the body, femaleness, its evolution and ultimate disappearance. This has led me to combine elements of bone, paper, chiffon, tulle, ink, dye, wood, and metal to encode the experience of the body… creating images, desecrating them, breaking them, and re-assembling them. I collage myself over and over with the work, looking to bring cohesion to what feels fragmented.
