Naomi Philp

I am an art and drama graduate with a BA Hon, PGCE and MA. I work from my home in Somerset, with the beautiful moorland, ancient woods and rugged coastline to inspire me, that and my young family who keep art fresh with their uninhibited perspective.

Art to me is a capturing a feeling, an indulgent and immensely personal investment into understanding, the environment, an emotion, another person, a moment. It is my mindfulness, my point of reflection. In nature and life I see perfection in imperfection. In my art I simply wish to capture the pure joy of a moment, the perfect beauty of life when we allow ourselves to pause and to really see, if only for a second. My influences are eclectic from Spike Milligan to Mark Rothko. My mediums are anything from oil on canvas to photos and trash. There is a magic in capturing the imagination and setting it alight, to watch the embers dance and spark. This is being alive.

I think that is why I can be so eclectic at times, in many ways life is too short, or too abundant with inspiration to be limiting.
