Samantha Louise Emery explores the interconnection between humans within the biodiversity of Life by mapping out these networks visually through her multimedia practice. Central to her artwork is a visual activism representing the positive powers of Women. Emery illustrates these influences through large-scale portraiture in her IKONA project, dedicated to influential women who have inspired her journey as a female creative.
London born Emery completed her Ceramic and Design degree at Central Saint Martins in 1993. In 1992 she won the award at the Young People’s Film & Video Festival for her short film Night Shift inspired by the work of Sylvia Plath. Emery then moved to Canada and debuted several series of paintings which she exhibited in Toronto and New York. The multimedia artist splits her time between the UK and her studio in Bodrum, Turkey, her spiritual home.
IKONA | Mirrored Interior is available to purchase within her Saatchi Art profile. Emery considers activism a vital part of her calling as an artist, as well as contributing in a positive way to our global society, therefore 10% of proceeds generated from IKONA artworks go to a variety of charities.
