Miguel Galvis is a Colombian visual artist with over twenty years of experience creating original handmade paintings. Working in both oil and acrylic on canvas, he develops artworks that combine technical skill, expressive texture, and a strong emotional presence.
His artistic practice is rooted in the belief that painting should do more than decorate a space. Each piece is created to evoke atmosphere, character, and a meaningful connection with the viewer. Through brushwork, palette knife technique, and layered composition, Galvis explores the expressive power of color, form, and materiality.
His work reflects a commitment to authenticity, craftsmanship, and the lasting value of original art. Whether working in oil or acrylic, Miguel Galvis creates paintings that are visually striking, deeply personal, and designed to transform the spaces they inhabit.
My artistic education has been shaped primarily through empirical learning and years of hands-on experience. As a self-taught artist, I have developed my technique through constant practice, observation, and a deep personal commitment to painting. I also come from a family of artists: my parents have been artists for more than 50 years, which has had a significant influence on my sensitivity, vision, and connection to art. This path has allowed me to build an authentic artistic language rooted in discipline, intuition, and lived experience.
Throughout my artistic career, I have had the opportunity to participate in important art exhibition and circulation spaces in Colombia, including Feria del Millón and ARTBO in Bogotá. These experiences have been valuable in my development as an artist, allowing me to present my work to diverse audiences and strengthen my vision of art, its impact, and its relationship with collectors. Beyond these spaces, my work has continued to grow through a practice deeply committed to painting and to a constant search for authenticity and personal expression.
