EDUCATION
EXHIBITIONS
Travels in Europe, Russia, the Caribbean and Mexico have been important influences on my work. I have been a visiting artist in Cortona, Italy, Wexford, Ireland and Barbados, West Indies. I have had artist's residencies at The Millay Colony for the Arts, Austerlitz, NY, The Cill Rialaig Project, Ballinskelligs, Ireland, Emily Harvey Foundation, Venice, Italy, Milkweed Project, Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic, Atelier Cres, Cres, Croatia, and Obras Holland, The Netherlands. I am drawn to working on an intimate scale on paper. My paintings are primarily abstract with intense color, often achieved through successive layers of translucent glazes. I use waterbased media, usually on paper. Early Influences were Indian and Persian miniature paintings.
MFA, University of Idaho, Undergraduate studies, East Carolina University, BS, and a summer at the Pa. Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. Studied Mexican Culture and Civilization in the Yucatan, auditing a summer course through Peace College. Museums have been my mentors.
