Shakira Edwards

I am the daughter of a Panamanian artist Rufus Magnus, he is an art professor, and my passion for painting began at an early age. Growing up, I spent my childhood alongside my father, participating in his summer painting courses, where I developed a deep appreciation for artistic expression and creativity.
In 1999, I studied art and sculpture for one year at the University of Art in Panama, further strengthening my artistic foundations. At the age of 16, I sold my first artwork, marking the beginning of my journey as a professional artist. Since then, I have created numerous commissioned pieces for private clients, each tailored to reflect their unique vision.
My artistic style combines semi-realistic, contemporary with decorative/expressionistic elements influences, using vibrant colour to create expressive and dynamic compositions. I work primarily with acrylics, watercolours, and charcoal, exploring the relationships between form, movement, and emotion.
Travelling has been a constant source of inspiration throughout my life. Experiencing different countries, cultures, landscapes, and natural beauty has enriched my artistic perspective and continues to influence my work through colour, texture, and storytelling.
