Katerina Kokkinaki

My work unfolds in a realm where aesthetics coexists with conceptual reflection, creating images that function not only as visual stimuli but also as vehicles for psychological and existential exploration. My images suggest a subtle melancholy and a sense of existential emptiness, inviting the viewer to a deeper reading. Through the artistic practices i use i explore issues of identity, gender, and contemporary social norms. At the same time, my concepts incorporate elements from diverse cultural and historical contexts, creating a hybrid visual vocabulary that engages with the present as well as the collective past. The figures often seem trapped between reality and the construction of the image, reflecting the contradictions of contemporary human experience. Overall, my visual language constructs a fragile and contemplative world, where the human presence is revealed as complex and contradictory. The artistic media vary, ranging from painting on canvas, watercolor, and drawing to assemblage, installations, photography, and video. Finally, my work do not seek to provide clear answers, but rather to open a dialogue with the viewer, inviting them to grapple with concepts such as identity, image, and inner reality.
