Marlene Weisman

I'm a Brooklyn, NY based visual artist and graphic designer. My collage, painting, drawing, Xerox transfer and assemblage art explorations reflect a love of Pop Art, Outsider Art, Surrealism, mark-making and humor.

My latest mission has been to re-define collage for the 21st century. This led to my current “Super Deep” series, a result of my ongoing experiments with a trove of kitsch, found 3D lenticular images I collected. I invented a way to transform parts of pre-printed 3D material into a whole new kind of collage with a stunning depth for the viewer— but that will have to wait until I can show these pieces in person at the next upcoming The Other Art Fair.

Design degree from SUNY Buffalo, additional course work at SVA, and my greatest education: several years designing the graphics/visuals in-house at Saturday Night Live. There was no better creative boot camp.

I've had work exhibited at these mainly New York venues: MoMA, the Islip Art Museum, BRIC Media House,NARS Foundation Gallery, Site:Brooklyn, Ground Floor Gallery, 440 Gallery, LaBodega Gallery, Shapeshifter Lab, and at the Central Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library, where I had a solo exhibition in 2014.
