I paint people in their personal,social and cultural context. My approach is naturalistic and realistic. When possible, I only paint from life, with the person posing for me at least a week so as to get to know them well enough for it to come across in the painting. Other times,when drawing on a specific idea or event, I work from photographs, videos and other mediums and situations permitting me to develop the most exposure and empathy
