I use my local environment as inspiration in my paintings, using the shoreline rather than the horizon, the 'plan'view interests me, the colour of the sky reflected in wet sand, floating seaweed, and the natural patterns in sand that are washed away by each tide.

Painting in a none traditional way, covering scrapping back, using layers to create depth and transulcence. I respond intuitively to the experience of nature rather than the visual representation.

Gergard Richter has been influential in my work using the balance between the natural world and abstraction.
