I am fascinated by relationships between people, the physical closeness between them or what sets them apart, and the nescessity of this physical proximity to others.
The most fragile contact and elusive things between people often seem to exist beyond the reach of language. This is what I try to capture in my images.

My work is about Thresholds and Transitions within and between people. The child on the threshold of the adult world, and the thresholds between individuals. Inextricably bound up with these thresholds, are the transitions in a human life.

Sibling relationships are an important subject in my work, which partly comes from the fact that I grew up without siblings - my half-brother Jonathan was born when I was twenty years old - and as a child I always wondered what it would be like to have a brother or sister.
