Lesley D Mckenzie

Born 1967 in Aberdeen. Trained as a graphic artist and have been self employed as an artist for over 15 years.

My main inspirations come from the North East landscape and light. I paint in a symbolic surrealist style mostly in acrylic and use animals to symbolise events and emotion. I love colour and like to play with proportions and perspective often changing scale within my painting. I also create raku fired animal sculptures. I work both to commission and for gallery exhibitions.

I was educated in Aberdeen and began training as a graphic artist when I was 16. I trained within an industy enviroment, learning from a variety of artists and technical illustrators. My own art is largely self taught and I work from my studio in Aberdeen where visitors are welcome to come and see me at work.
