Jessica Maring began her professional artist career in the mid-'90's after retiring from a long career in information technology. She and her husband moved to Arizona, where, influenced by Native American petroglyphs, other indigenous peoples' art, and Paleolithic cave paintings, Jessica painted ancient and mythological creatures in the hot colors of the Southwest and a crisp, contemporary style.
Jessica's work was shown by Sedona Spirit Fine Art Gallery in Sedona, Arizona, and a number of her paintings are in private collections throughout the Southwest and Europe.
Since returning to California in 2007, she has shown in Santa Cruz County's Open Studios, the River Arts Festival, the Santa Cruz Art League's 90th Anniversary Faire, Scotts Valley Art & Wine Festival, the Capitola Art & Wine Festival, and the Santa Cruz Art League's 'Nature's Treasures' show of Contemporary Landscape Painters of California.
Reflecting her change of location from the arid Southwest to the lush California coast, Jessica's style and subject matter has also changed.
