Jim Woodman

I have painted all my life and professionally for the last twenty years. I live in London but most of my work is of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland particularly the Isle of Skye, where I spend many months every year.

I am self taught as a painter. I have loved art all my life and spend many hours visiting galleries. The art which inspires me is mainly late nineteenth and twentieth century. The Fauves, Derain, Vlaminck and of course Matisse are particular inspirations and more recently the Scottish Colourists, Joan Eardley.and Frank Auerbach.
