Elsa Munoz

I live and work in Mexico City. I think art is essentially a mystery. Art is a means to explore the sense of life, our mere existence in a complex world. As a sculptor, I intend to investigate the human body and its links with symbolic space. I intend to take a closer look at the intimate geometry at the boundary between the human body and the sense of life. Solitude and disappointment, but also hope and healing of the self are the elements of my search.

After attending
university studies on psychology, I shifted to
art courses on painting, wood carving, and
sculpture. Finally, I centered on sculpture and
enrolled in a self-learning process. The hard
road of learning involved experimentation with
different techniques and materials. At the
same time, I realized that the knowledge of art
history and contemporaneous art trends were
necessary to launch a serious project on
sculpture.
