Simon Saglamoglu

My work explores the balance between structure and spontaneity, capturing fleeting moments of perception and emotion through instinctive gestures on canvas. I am particularly drawn to color fields, approaching them organically and gesturally—some works feature vibrant, contrasting colors, while others move toward a more restrained, near-monochrome palette. The movement of the brush and layering of paint shapes forms and color fields, creating depth, texture, and a sense of rhythm across the canvas.

As a self-taught artist with a background in architecture and art history, I have spent several years practicing independently, and I am now focusing intensively on developing my painting practice. Through abstraction, I aim to invite viewers to engage intuitively and emotionally, while leaving space for personal interpretation. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, I enjoy exploring the material qualities of paint and the expressive potential of gesture.
