Una D'Aragona

I aim to tread a path between recognisable figuration and gestural abstraction, conscious deliberate visual choices set against unconscious intuitive painterly expression. The picture plane becomes a landscape to hold and contain fragments of visual information gleened from observation of nature during my daily rural walks combined with photographic and media imagery together with an internal river of memory, feeling and imagination. The forms are remains, traces and ghosts of incidences and happenings, of things coming into being and dying away. Shadow, transience and transparency in the work reflect contemporary concerns of identity, boundaries, doubt and uncertainty.
