Luigi Nanni

Luigi Nanni was born in Rome where he trained culturally.
Always interested in music and theater, his artistic career has led him to cross and to give shape to the suggestions of ancient authors such as De Morales, Palestrina, Buxtehude, Bach, up to contemporaries, from Berio to Stockhausen, from Luigi Nono to Xenakis.
Music is the leitmotif of his artistic experiences, from painting to sculpture to video creation.
This is even more true than Büchner's text, "Wozzeck", to which the artist has approached through Berg's work, and to whom he has devoted himself with lucid obsession over the past twenty years, creating a production now sparse for the world, up to the realization of another group of works united in an organic cycle within the publication of the translation of the text by Büchner by the playwright Rocco Familiari. It is with this cycle of works, "Wir arme Leut" (We poor people) that the artist presents himself on Saatchiart:

'... Countless the faces, the poses, the looks, the scenarios, the sculptures that have embodied the human typologies of Wozzeck from time to time, in ever-renewed forms, in an attempt to make the universality of the silent cry of the prot...
