Being born in Calcutta and growing up in Kathmandu, I never felt at home in both the cultural cities. Perhaps this sense of isolation and my whimsical mind has driven me into making art. I tend to go into work without forethought and decipher meaning afterwards. Everything starts with an abstract concept that I write down prior to really visualising it. From there, it becomes several stages of sketching to figuring out characters and colours- almost like I am the director of the play. Sketching on a paper, on average, can take around 1-2 weeks, but developing the concept can sometimes take up to several months. As I feel that our body is kind of a mechanical vehicle for our own emotions, I want my artwork to take people into a different realm where anything is possible.
