Wolfgang Klaus Maria Friedrich, (August 22nd, 1957 in Cologne-Ehrenfeld) is a German conceptual artist, painter, and photographer. As a freelance artist, he is part of contemporary art and has been a member of the professional association of visual artists since 1994.

WKMF grew up on the left bank of the Rhine between 7411 and Sester on Vogelsangerstraße before the family moved to a GAG social housing estate in Cologne-Vingst. The harsh climate in this working-class environment shaped his youth and his parents disliked his interest in art. With a catalog by Roy Lichtenstein, WKMF was able to put his ideas about MARVEL's superheroes into practice. In the library he found books on Beuys, German Informel or Pop Art. It was precisely the materials like fat and felt that brought him to Düsseldorf and the chance meeting of Beuys in the old town brought WKMF to the art college in 1972 (“Everyone is an artist “) His ideas for informal art, unconventional materials and the friendships with Michael Buthe, Herbert Zangs and Martin Kippenberger come from this time.

His first major international exhibition took place in 1986 in New York at Gallery Clasen.
In 1987 the freelance artist moved into a studio in Goutte `D Or, Paris, because of love and good food. In 1988 WKMF opened a studio in Cologne and Berlin. His studio in Aachen 1992-1997 near the Ludwig-Forum, Berlin 1997-2003 on Oranienburger Straße, followed.

But Cologne always remained his adopted home. He has been working in his studio in Cologne...
