Mexican Pop Artist and Ceramist


I was born in Mexico City in 1962 and now live and work in San Miguel de Allende. I have painted since childhood, when portraits of family and friends became my first way of observing and understanding people. Since then, I have produced more than 500 portraits alongside an extensive body of personal work.

My practice combines painting and ceramics with imagery drawn from Mexican culture, advertising, politics, cinema, comics and everyday life. Through irony, black humor and unexpected visual collisions, I explore human nature and the contradictions of contemporary society.

Although I admire Renaissance painting, Velázquez and the legacy of Pop Art, I have never wanted to belong to a single school or trend. Freedom remains central to both my life and my work. I want my images to be direct, playful and visually seductive, while leaving behind a certain discomfort or unanswered question.

Self-taught artist. Independent artistic practice developed through painting, drawing, portraiture, printmaking and ceramics.
