STATEMENT

My paintings explore the humor, tenderness, and absurdity of human nature through
bold, figurative forms. I’m fascinated by body language-how a simple tilt of the head,
a crossed leg, or a stretched hand can tell an entire story.

Each work is a playful dialogue between elegance and exaggeration. I use vivid colors,
soft curves, and surreal twists to reveal both irony and intimacy. My characters often
exist in their own theatrical worlds-relaxed, mischievous, self-aware, sometimes
bored-but always alive.

Through these figures, I reflect on the beauty of imperfection and the charm of
everyday emotions. Whether it’s swans whispering secrets or goddesses tangled in
their thoughts, my art invites viewers to smile, feel, and recognize something human
in the strange.

Yana Medow is a contemporary artist from St. Petersburg, currently based in Alicante.
She graduated from the Stieglitz Art Academy in Saint Petersburg, specializing in Painting Restoration.
Her professional background includes work as a restorer, graphic designer, and illustrator.
Since 2020, she has established herself as a full-time artist, focusing on her independent creative practice.
