For me, the subject is everything. I paint landscapes of places I've seen and experienced. I need to have some kind of personal relationship with the natural setting. When I take a photo I try to frame and compose it. I will only use 1 out of a 100 photos to paint a picture that takes many hours of work. When I paint I stay true to my reference photo.

I approach painting from a critical and philosophical background as an art lover. In my landscapes I want the subject to shine and show itself. I am not interested in projecting my feelings or opinions into the picture. I want to paint it as it shows itself to me through careful observation.
