Education and Early Career.
Marina Efimova received a classical humanitarian education, graduating in 1993 from the State University of Management (Moscow) with a specialization in Sociology. Subsequently, her interest in visual storytelling led her to the GITR Film and Television School (Moscow, Russia) (1994–1999), where she specialized as a film and television cameraman in the workshop of Felix Kefchiyan. This cinematic approach to light and composition significantly influenced her creative practice.
Artistic Practice and Technique.
The artist works with large-format film (4x5, 7x5 inches), using both classic camera systems and the camera obscura (pinhole), such as the Zero Image 4x5. This dedication to "Slow Photography" allows her to achieve meditative, impressionistic effects and concentrate on the flow of time.
The Conceptual Series.
Central to her work is the series "Internal Cosmos. Psychedelic Landscapes." This series was developed by two authors, Marina Efimova and Nikolay Maslov, and was first presented at a joint exhibition of the two artists at the FotoUnion Galler...
