My obsession with watercolor began with a childhood ruse. After receiving a small tin of paints during a bout of the flu, I famously used talcum powder on my face to mimic illness, hoping to stay home from school just to paint. "Largely self-directed with a foundation in formal technique, my education includes studies toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Curtin University, where I received a High Distinction for my work. I have also refined my practice through private watercolor lessons and a formative masterclass with the legendary Australian watercolorist, the late Robert Wade. My formal entry into the art world began in 1996, when I was awarded First Prize at the Noosa Art Awards for my work in watercolor."
