Anna Zekavati

Anna Zekavati is a geneticist turned expressive artist whose work explores womanhood, identity and the complexities of human experience. Her love of painting began in childhood, long before she pursued a PhD in Genetics and a career in scientific research. While science taught her to observe and understand the world, art offered a different way of exploring it, through emotion, intuition and personal experience. Her paintings reflect the quiet tensions between who we are, how we see ourselves and what is expected of us. For Anna, returning to art has also been a reminder that life is too short to leave behind the things that bring us joy. Through her work, she hopes to invite viewers to pause, reflect and perhaps recognise something of themselves.
