Hello. I am John. Born and raised in the industrial heartland of England known as The Black Country. Straight from school, I studied in fine art and began exhibiting. However, a parallel career in music took me working and touring across the UK and Europe for 30 years. In the mid 2000s, I made a radical life change and for the next decade worked in the forests of northern England. This experience powerfully reignited my connection to nature and my desire to communicate my experience through art.
All through my years of state education, painting, music and writing absorbed my enthusiasm and creativity so that, upon leaving school, I went on to art college in Stafford and Wolverhampton to study for the Diploma in Art and Design (later to become B.A in Art and Design).
In the early years, I exhibited at numerous events for students and new painters, including a large fundraising event at Shugborough Hall, home of Patrick, Earl of Lichfield.
Since resuming painting seriously, I have had pictures featured at The Royal Overseas League and, at a recent large-scale exhibition of work by artists from Ryedale in North Yorkshire, my painting "Dry Stone Wall, Edge of the Forest" was chosen as the iconic image representing the event in the foyer of the venue.
