I am mainly working with line and structure, i.e. more with form or even with the origin and development of form rather than color. My inspiration comes from nature and science. I consider my drawings and paintings as fields where different forces leave their traces.
Born in Rendsburg/Germany in 1949, I moved to Berlin in 1972 where I have been living ever since. I studied Russian language and literature and worked as an assistant lecturer at the Freie Universität/Berlin. I also translated literary and scientific texts (Kopelev, Ajgi, Florenski and others). In 1985, I started to paint, mainly self taught, and soon found a professional studio and a gallery. I have been travelling a lot, studying art and landscape. Since last year, I have been working in a new studio near Potsdam.
For many years, I have been cooperating with the Berlin based composer and saxophone player Joachim Gies (www.joachimgies.de). We have produced and performed a series of concerts to which I contribute stage design and pictures.
