Julia Valtanen

Julia Valtanen is a visual artist based in Tallinn, Estonia, working across painting, collage and mixed media. Her practice explores transformation, transitional states and the fluid boundaries between body, landscape and material.

Drawing on organic structures, fragments of nature and bodily imagery, she creates layered compositions in which forms emerge, dissolve and shift between recognizable and abstract. Her works often combine delicate, translucent elements with vivid color and tactile surfaces.

Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions, including at Tartu Art Museum, Pärnu City Gallery and Punctum Gallery. She is a member of the Estonian Painters’ Association.
