Jenny Cleary

I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2000 and have since been a practising artist living and working in Dublin, Ireland. I am originally from Norway but since moving away to go to college, I have lived in many countries and travelled all over the world. Colour plays a major role in all my work and I create surface richness by using multiple layers and contrasting areas of the picture with thin transparent glazes.
The human face and body has always fascinated me with their intensity of colours, structure, light and shadow. I want to re-create the human skin and flesh using the multitude of colours I see when looking at a subject. I want to explore the skin close up and find ways in portraying it through paint.
