Aikaterini Pitikari is a multidisciplinary artist living in the Athens, Greece. She studied Fine Art at Liverpool Hope University and her work delves into themes around identity, cultural heritage and literature. Her current work examines ancient Greek and Roman myths with a special focus on gender issues and re-interprets them in a contemporary setting. Her approach to heritage and the search for identity in these artworks are expressed through a variety of media such as clay and ink. From Arachne's condemned weavings for eternity to Daphne trying to escape her rapist and god Apollo, Pitikari's work is an ongoing conversation about heritage and pre-existing definitions of gender and cultural identities.
