In my series A Color Moment I take a bee’s-eye view photographing overlooked details of plant life in New York City with my iPhone. Framing the images is shaped by my practice and career as an abstract painter, as well as my concerns about the overwhelming state of environmental degradation. I choose to focus on the sense of connection between a small sample of the botanical world and the planet as a whole, microcosm reflecting the macrocosm. As disconnected as we are from the natural world, how can we reconnect with the beauty of what we have?
