Biography

Daniel Paul is a Czech sculptor born in Prague in 1984. He studied sculpture at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM), graduating in 2012.

Alongside his independent practice, Paul spent a significant part of his early professional life working across film, entertainment and specialised fabrication. This brought him into close contact with digital sculpting, mould making, scenic construction and animatronics, as well as with the practical demands of creating objects that must remain convincing both at a distance and under close scrutiny. These methods gradually became part of his own sculptural vocabulary rather than a separate technical discipline.

His practice has moved through public and site-specific work, abstraction and the use of natural forms before becoming increasingly centred on the human figure. Today he works primarily with figurative sculpture, combining traditional modelling with digital processes, 3D technologies, painting and mixed materials.
