Anja Smolarz

Anja Smolarz, a contemporary artist based in Świnoujście, Poland.

The raw seaside landscape around her home studio as well as numerous explorations of lakes and meadows around family home became her endless inspiration.

Her multi-layered, spatial abstract landscapes convey a poetic intensity of colors and are a harmonious blend of luminosity and subtle darkness.

Using color and glazing, Anja saturates her paintings with an atmosphere of mystery and a certain melancholy, evoking a whole range of emotions. Her works are largely landscapes suspended between reality and dreams.

Anja creates her paintings by repeatedly applying and removing thin layers of paint, which gives her works depth and spaciousness.

Since 2022, Anja started showing her works and has been exhibited and represented by international galleries in Germany, Italy and Spain. Her paintings were also published in the fifth edition of the Italian catalog of contemporary art "Artists of Today and Tomorrow".
