Corrina Rothwell

I'm a Nottingham based artist originally from Rochdale, Lancashire and have been a practicing artist for 35+ years. Self-taught and raised by artist parents, my background is in textiles and digital illustration. Painting has always played a part in my creativity and is now my sole focus. Created with acrylics on canvas, panel and paper my paintings carve a path between abstract and figurative. An enduring fascination with psychology and the intricacies of human relationships and behaviour inform my subject matter and a lifelong love of colour is one of the crucial elements in my work.

I have a real love of process and constantly challenge myself to find new ways to develop marks and texture. I oscillate between the application of time-consuming detail and the energy of painterly, abstract mark-making and I think this duality forms the essence of my creative practice.
