Chinh Trung Pham

Born in 1955 in Hanoi, I have almost 50 years of hands-on experience with Lacquer Painting.
I draw inspiration from the beauty of nature as well as that of human figures, which I often transform into my works with modern realism style. When I arrange the models with beautiful poses for my Fundamental classes that I teache, I would sketch the outlines and then express them artistically on lacquer. The same goes for the landscapes that keep me in awe during my adventure to hidden places of Vietnam. On top of paying attention to layering the paints, the materials and the forms in order to achieve the kind of depth only lacquer can deliver, I also places much importance on the colours, composition as well as the rhythm to achieve the ultimate harmony. My works are present in many arts connoisseurs’ collections world-wide.

Aside from being a member of Vietnam Fine Arts Associations and Hanoi Fine Arts Association, I have been teaching generations of students in Traditional Lacquer and Drawing Fundamentals.

When I do not compose or draw, I take pleasure in taking photos, capturing the daily lives and beauties of those around him.
