Darya Babkevich

Hi 👋 My name is Darya Babkevich. I am a contemporary artist based in France. My painting practice is rooted in a strong academic foundation, complemented by a Master’s degree in Fine Arts and Graphic Design — a combination that has shaped both my artistic freedom and my refined sense of composition.

Nature is my primary source of inspiration, especially mountains. They hold a rare balance of strength and stillness, scale and clarity. I am drawn to moments when light transforms a landscape and an ordinary view reveals its inner character — becoming not just a place, but a state of being.

I work in oil, combining delicate brushwork with expressive palette knife accents. Layered textures, depth of tone, and a sense of movement are as essential to me as precision and craftsmanship. A painting, in my view, should breathe — while remaining thoughtfully constructed.

At times, I turn to still life, where the dialogue with light, form, and rhythm becomes more intimate. Whether landscape or still life, my intention remains the same: to create work that invites a lingering gaze — offering calm, space, and a quiet sense of presence.
