Nehanda Helmker

I am a Garifuna woman from the small country of Belize. As a mother I feel, I have become more in tuned to what it means for me to find creative ways of self expression. It is important for me to teach my children and students this and that is why I try to depict that in my work and life.

As an educator and economics students, I am a far cry from what I went to study and that is all I want to say. I think I am more a student of life than of the classroom. I am a self taught artist.
