Anand James

James uses the human figure and landscape as sites where visible reality confronts what cannot be fully represented. Drawing from the historical gravity of Baroque painting, light is treated as metaphysical pressure rather than illumination, allowing bodies and spaces to emerge, fragment, or dissolve. Metaphysical reality enters the work not as belief or image, but as tension felt at the limits of representation, where meaning remains unresolved.
