Yamila Plaza (Caracas, 1975) is a Venezuelan visual artist based in Buenos Aires since 2018.
Her practice focuses on the construction of surface through repetitive gesture, exploring thread and line as languages of memory, body and migration. Through the accumulation of marks, her works unfold as territories where displacement emerges as rhythm, tension and structure.
She studied drawing and painting at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas Cristóbal Rojas (Caracas), and further developed her practice through artist studios and critique programs in Venezuela and Argentina, including workshops with Maruja Herrera, Sandra Doherty (Taller Aike), Nana Schlez and Paola Vega.
Her background includes a professional career in fashion design developed between Venezuela and Spain, where she worked with structure, materiality and textile construction—elements that continue to inform her pictorial practice.
She has participated in exhibitions in Venezuela and Argentina, including Transhumantes and Cultura Viva (Buenos Aires, 2022).
She currently lives and works in Buenos Aires.
