Yemming Charles

YEMMING Charles Hugues, born on May 25, 1992 in Dschang (Cameroon), is a visual artist specializing in sculpture. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and an attestation from the Institut of "Formation Artistique of Mbalmayo". As a passionate self-taught artist, he has enriched his journey through workshops and art festivals in Cameroon. His works have been exhibited in several international events, including in Nigeria, Brazil, Argentina, and Belgium. He explores contemporary forms in sculpture and painting, navigating between memory and imagination.

Their work is part of an engaged artistic research focused on social justice, identity, and gender equality, expressed through visual metaphors drawn from
everyday life. They are interested in invisibilized bodies and trajectories, fragmented narratives, and forms of silent resistance. Their pictorial practice is
built on a tension between rupture and reconstruction: fragmentation, tearing, and assemblage translate social fractures, while the act of repairing and stitching
becomes a gesture of care, memory, and the reaffirmation of human dignity. Art thus becomes a space for sensitive dialogue and symbolic transformation.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Life and Earth Sciences obtained from Lycée Classique de Bafang, a Bachelor's degree in Physical Geography obtained from the University of Maroua, a DIPES 1 and DIPES 2 obtained from the Higher Teacher Training School of Maroua, and a certificate in Plastic Arts with a specialization in sculpture obtained from the Institute of Artistic Training in Mbalmayo
