I enjoy the stuff i did before i thought about being judged; THAT stuff still makes me smile, cry, chuckle… FEEL.
i was doodling while depressed…just occupying time alone …feeling alone. i wasn’t aware of art rules/expectations.

Sometimes …I’d suddenly become aware that I’d been holding my breath while drawing…often off center on a scrap of paper meant for the bin…

Then….i showed others…and became affected.

If someone said, “Ooo THAT’s Good!” I’d abandon all else and try to do more of THAT. If someone said, THAT looks like something a 12 yr old would do… I’d cringe & toss it.

Funny/strange thing is… “that” was.
It wasn’t happening again, it was a feeling, thought, idea, passed.

The learning…anticipating the next, enjoying the happening, reminiscing by viewing what had passed.

I’ve always sketched, doodled, pencil, pen, and or colored pencils then watercolor… now my acrylic addiction. Perhaps one day I may venture into oil however in any case I hope that I am always able to screenshot some truth. Reveal. Discover. Share. Unafraid because in the end it was a delicious meal. Life. (Oh yeah, and frames matter… I’m partial to floating wooden frames for canvas (no glass) and modern dark wood for paper)
