Francesca Pinoni

Francesca Pinoni is a San Francisco–born, Cyprus-based artist whose work moves between observation and abstraction, often rooted in the shifting rhythms of water.

Working primarily in watercolor, she is drawn to the tension between control and unpredictability — allowing the medium to lead while shaping it through gesture, layering, and interruption. What begins as a response to the natural world gradually opens into something less literal: a search for movement, energy, and the spaces in between.

Her recent work marks a quiet shift from describing what is seen toward expressing what is felt — where waves become currents, and forms dissolve into flow. There is a continued dialogue between structure and release, weight and lightness, presence and disappearance.

Rather than capturing a specific place, her paintings invite a more physical experience — something sensed rather than explained.

Francesca’s work has been exhibited internationally and selected for juried exhibitions including the Second International Watercolor Festival in Qingdao.

Studied watercolor and abstract painting with internationally recognized artists, including Konstantin Sterkhov, Sterling Edwards, and Chinese master Hanbing Hua.
