My name is Nirupma Kapoor. I come from Kanpur, a city in North India.

I try to make visible all that is invisible, intangible…..

Painting came early in my life. I remember the joy of mixing colors and discovering new shades as a young child. There were so many to choose from - crayons, water colors, acrylics and oils. The early paintings were gifts for friends and family. Their encouragement and appreciation motivated me to explore the colors and the textures they created and thus widened my horizons.

Learning came easily, especially during childhood. Languages, Sciences, Mathematics, Art and Philosophy were constant threads throughout.

Later at college there were some insightful pieces and a collaborative large painting for the college.

Life became very busy as sharing whatever I had learnt became very important.

Now that I have the gift of time, I can study, think and paint.

I present before you a few thoughts and paintings.

It has been my good fortune to be taught by great teachers; my parents, my grandparents, my Gurus, my siblings, my teachers in various schools, my professors at Miranda House Delhi, Christ Church College Kanpur, International Centre College of Education Kanpur; my mentors and project guides at IIT Kanpur and my inspirational leaders at Wharton USA. I am deeply grateful to all of them.

I was always curious and eager to learn. I liked solving problems, reading, writing, poetry, painting and designing. It was an Honors in Physics, then further learning Computer Science, Social Science, Education and Management. I taught Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence.

After teaching for a while, I moved as the head of various schools.

I shared my knowledge and experience with various Educational Boards and organizations to create syllabi and material to facilitate learning. I was deeply involved with the improvement in the quality of education and assisted evaluation for children with disabilities. I conducted and facilitated many workshops for students and teachers.

I enjoyed interacting with people, organizing various events, taking care of our planet and working for those who are not as fortunate as us. Won...
