Collen Mfazwe

Collen he's a transgender-identified South African and he have already been working as an artist and activist in his township and surrounding areas for some time through and Muholi International Productions (an organization founded by photographer Zanele Muholi).

He is an experienced visual artist and activist. He did community work with Uthingo The rainbow a black LGBTI organization implementing change in local communities. He was also part of Rainbow Activist Alliance, an advocacy group that aims to create safe spaces for LGBTIQ+ persons and women in the cities to talk about the issues that affect them directly and indirectly. Fighting for justice and equality are one of the high points he have amongst others.

He currently working with different organisations as well as pursuing his own projects.

He particularly interested in further pursuing opportunities which allow him to broaden his photographic skills and film making.

He has been a community photographer for some time, then he got a chance to study photography at Market photo workshop. He’s now studying filmmaking.

He has secured several artist residencies and exhibitions in the past years, Oslo, Berlin, Zurich, and Amsterdam, California. He believes meeting and engaging with young people who come from different walks of life has benefited him as he has learned a lot from them.
