Nashat Al Shammari is an Associate of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and a contemporary visual artist whose practice explores the intersections of memory, architecture, and cultural identity. Born in Iraq and now based in the West Midlands, UK, Al Shammari draws inspiration from the elegant forms of Middle Eastern and Islamic art—reimagining domes, courtyards, and intricate geometric patterns through a modern visual language.
Working primarily in mosaics and mixed media, his compositions merge traditional craftsmanship with contemporary storytelling. Balancing precision with intuition, structure with emotion, his work evokes timeless spaces that invite reflection on heritage, belonging, and transformation.
Al Shammari is the founder of Studio Nashat, a creative hub dedicated to reviving and reinterpreting ancient techniques. Through this platform, he continues to celebrate the enduring relevance of historical aesthetics while fostering innovative artistic dialogue.
With exhibitions at venues including the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and collectors across the globe, Al Shammari’s work bridges cultures—offering a powerful visual narrative rooted in the legacy of Mesopotamia and Abbasid Iraq.
